1796-97 Draped bust Liberty; small eagle reverse. 1798-1807 Draped bust Liberty; heraldic eagle reverse. 1809-28 Capped bust Liberty. 1828-37 Capped bust Liberty; diameter reduced from about 18.8mm to 18.5mm, and now has beaded border. 1837-38 Liberty seated, no stars. 1838-40 Liberty seated, 13 stars. 1840-60 Drapery added near elbow; shield nearly upright. The weight was reduced from 2.67 grams to 2.49 grams in 1853; arrows were added to either side of the date for 1853-55. I do not consider this to be a sigificant type change. 1860-91 Legend "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" moved from reverse to obverse; style of wreath changed. The weight was increased from 2.49 grams to 2.5 grams in 1873; arrows were added to either side of the date for 1873-74. I do not consider this to be a sigificant type change. 1892-1916 Liberty head. 1916-45 Winged Liberty head. 1946-64 President Franklin Roosevelt. 1965- Composition change from 0.9 silver to 0.75 copper.
