1796 Draped bust Liberty; small eagle reverse. 1804-07 Draped bust Liberty; heraldic eagle. 1815-28 Capped bust Liberty. 1831-38 Reduced size Liberty bust; no "E PLURIBUS UNUM" on reverse. 1838-65 Liberty seated. The weight was reduced from 6.68 grams to 6.22 grams in 1853, and arrows were added on either side of the date from 1853-65. 1853 Rays added around eagle on reverse for one year only. 1866-91 Motto resumed on reverse. The weight was increased from 6.22 grams to 6.25 grams in 1873, and arrows were added on either side of the date from 1873-74. 1892-1916 Liberty head. 1916-17 Standing Liberty. 1917-30 The clothing on Liberty was modified to cover the exposed breast; on the reverse, the stars and legend were rearranged. 1932-64 President George Washington. 1965-74, 1977-98 Composition change from 0.9 silver to 0.75 copper. 1976 Special issue to commemorate the Bicentennial. 1999
