1854-58


The second type adds three lines bordering the star, includes an olive sprig over the "III" and a bundle of three arrows under the "III", and the composition is changed from 0.75 silver to 0.9 silver.

1859-72


The star now has only two lines around it.

1865-89


Composition switch from 0.9 silver to 0.75 copper. The 0.25 nickel gives the coin its gray color.
